Eat Open-Fire Food In Patagonia's Hinterlands With Award-Winning Argentinian Chef, Francis Mallmann
Don’t start jumping just yet, guys.
World-renown Argentinian chef and restaurateur, Francis Mallmann, won’t be taking new groups for his six-day adventure in Patagonia ‘till 2022.
But if you’ve got $13,400 (or more) to splurge, then now’s the time to book. His last few tours sold out quick-time and they won’t take more than 10 guests at a time.
For those unfamiliar with Mr. Mallmann, the Acassuso native’s one of the culinary scene’s most enigmatic of mavericks. He wears long, linen scarves, ponchos and striped pants, proclaims his promiscuity with pride and cooks flawless trout with nothing but clay and fire.
Where your typical high-profile chef uses machines, this man relies on the elements and pits dug out that later slow roast hundreds of pounds worth of vegetables, each as balanced and as blackened as you’d like.
The entire experience is hosted by Satopia Travel, an Amsterdam-based immersion trip specialist, and they do these with other notable chefs like Massimo Bottura and Raymond Blanc. Yes, “immersion” as in you get to cook, too. And it all goes down on Mallmann’s private island, one ensconced by forests and only accessible by crossing a pristine lake via boat.
Does it get any cooler?
