The Best Hair Trimmer A Man Can Buy
Meet the Peanut, the best beard trimmer you can buy.
Hopefully you’re weren’t expecting something state-of-the art when you read the title, something with an LED-lit display that shows how the battery’s doing, bluetooth connectivity, TikTok and all that other stuff.
This little guy is the answer when you ask, “Why the hell can’t I find a simple, compact machine to trim my beard, one I pack when traveling is fun again, one that won’t break down?”
And like it says in the subhead of this piece, this isn’t an ad.
That machine up top is simply that good — it does the work of both a hair clipper and a beard trimmer (not that you’ll be employing its use as the former… unless you’re a barber).
The Gist.
The Peanut is a rotary motor-based clipper-meets-trimmer, it weighs in at a most convenient four ounces, and as all Wahl machines go, it’s built to last. It measures four inches (or 10.16 centimetres) in length, too, so there’s nowhere you can’t take this thing without it eating storage room. And admit it, the thing’s sleek (there’s a grey version as well, but why look past the clean and classy black one?).
Unlike the heavier duty units your barber wields, the Peanut’s designed for you — the guy who just wants something good, yet easy to pick in galaxy of different depilation machines.
Remember This.
Don’t leave the Peanut out in the open with a shower running. Or if you’re summering somewhere like Panama, just don’t leave it out period. Humidity’s the last thing the carbon steel on that machine needs. To keep it from rusting, keep the trimmer in a box, a closed toiletry bag or even inside the safe confines of a medicine cabinet.
And on that point about steel — don’t skip oiling up the trimmer’s blades every couple of shaves. Oil prevents hair from getting “pulled on” by said metal, plus friction gets brought to a bare minimum.
Here’s a fast and simple video on how to do it:
The Peanut comes with four basic attachments, by the way; from shortest to longest depending on the haircut or style of beard that’s wanted.
One more thing: Go with the black.
